The top of the mountain where the big Buddha, Chedi and
Buddhist altars are is an amazing place to see. If you
get the chance start climbing about 4pm so you'll make
it for the sunset. Bring a small flashlight for the
climb down. The slips do not get slippery during rain so
don't worry about incoming showers.
If you're physically fit you might test
yourself to see how fast you can climb to the top. The
fastest time I've heard about is from "Sven". He's from
Switzerland and a frequent visitor to the top. He can
climb from bottom to the top in just 12 minutes and 15
seconds. Can you beat that? Maybe you can't go fast, you
have endurance? Can you go twice? Three times?
I've been up and down three times in 90 minutes with a
heavy backpack. I'm sure there's someone that has done
more times than that.

Big Buddha at top.

Sunset at top. Every sunset is
different.
Worth seeing many times.

Sunset taken through young bamboo.

At night the top of Wat Tum Sua is
surreal.
Krabi town is in the background.

Looking down a long stretch of steps
from step 800. The foothills
area is straight ahead. You can see one of the steep
limestone
rock faces that borders it by looking above the steps
here.

The top is worth the climb!

Sometimes you'll see nuns and monks
meditating at the top.
You might even see me...

Awesome rainbow in a small rain storm
far off.
This is a frequent scene from the top during rainy
season
in Krabi from May through December.

More rain - over Krabi town this time.

Steps and view of Krabi countryside.

A young monk going to a secret
meditation spot among the rocks.

Taken from where Buddha's footprint
is.

Top of 1,237 stairs. You can do it,
just go SLOWLY.
There is cold water at the top and a cool breeze almost
everyday.

Sunset behind Buddha.

I loved this photo. The sun is in the
shape of a headless Buddha.

Looking down on Wat Tum Sua from 1000
feet (330m) vertical.

About step 800 there is a statue of
this God from India.

Many layers of limestone karsts when
looking west.

Dramatic rain storm. They pass
quickly. If it's raining, come anyway.
The storm will pass within 30 minutes and you'll have a
cooler walk up the steps!
